What was very strange about Loews is they were the hotel for my company during a big event. You'd think the a group rate would be a good deal because they were renting so many rooms.
I found out the room was $370 per night. I was there for 27 nights. I flew instead of drove even though there was supposedly a flight restriction for people attending - the hotel also wanted $50 per night to park the car in their garage.
One day I looked up booking a room in the hotel on Expedia. I found available rooms for $140.
+230 for the group rate.
Food in the hotel (this was near Dallas) was super expensive: $27 for a hamburger. I went to a nearby Walmarts for groceries. Even though the company was paying, I couldn't spend $27 on a hamburger.
I should have asked for $300 per night to book my own hotel, plus food. I'd have had an extra $4000 at the end.
