Because we haven't been playing. This election ended any notion the left won't do whatever it takes to get power, and ended the idea we'd be able to use the courts to hold them accountable if they went to far. More and more people understand we actually need to start getting into the government at all levels if we want to actually stop the left from getting so much power we'd be unable to actually stop them. It's now clear we have no free press and the left uses tech giants and MSM to infringe on our free speech which is why we are seeing the push for platforms that can't be censored by the tech monopolies and anti trust cases against said monopolies.

Before recent events most people were willing to be tolerant of the lefts behavior because this is their country to and they get a say, but now the line in the sand has been drawn and we know what we have to do.
