I've seen the same thing in my neighbour who had mental deterioration. It happens faster and faster each day. In 5 days he might not even be able to repeat the oath.
I went thru it with my grandfather in 2005 ish. It was normal one dy, then soem forgetfulness what you thin may be old age, then it goes down hill very rapidly. For example, he was a life long Red Sox fan, you could show him newspaper covers, video, etc. of them winning the WS, etc., At first he might have remembers for a day or a week and as was happy to hear it, smiling, etc. So, we tied to big it up often as it made him very happy. By that winter, he wouldn't' believe it, and got angry, and want back to his childhood of al the curse stories. Then he forgot he had grand kids, then couldn't remember his own sons and eventually his wife.
When I went to visit, I went thru family photos to try to being up old memories he would hopefully remember. He was very gifted in terms of carpentry and general house hold repair. Hey, grandpa, remember when I was young and you make me that handmade Christmas gift or I helped you fix the front porch, etc. Eventually, had no idea about and of that, and it got to the point were staff recommend I not visit or avoid certain words as me saying "Hi grandpa" would make him upset as he had forgotten he had grand kids.
It was sad to think about it, but when he finally passed I was kind of relieved as I knew he was no longer suffering.
It makes me angry that they are willing to use Joe Biden, who from every public appearance I’ve seen recently shows many of the signs I saw personally, and he has no clue about it and they have to know including his wife.

I'm so sorry. I have similar memories of my grandma. It's painful.
