This is a really funny analogy, because I was just thinking of my Dad today, and he was a BC grad. He passed two years ago of what they would say was COVID today. He loved Trump, and he loved the Eagles. But he typified what is wrong with all of us today. My brother and I used to make fun of him, because (and he was a big Patriots fan too) he would always talk about how "we always find a way to lose, we're going to lose this game". We knew with time that it was simply because he would get invested, and wanted to save himself the pain if we lost, but sometimes it cost him the joy when we won.
The moral to this story folks is - never give up the hopium. In the end it will be worth it.
