Getting even and holding grudges is one of the defining personality traits of a psychopath. A huge portion of the population is psychotic in some way and it doesn't equate evilness but it is a negative state of mind. Being negative isn't necessarily a bad thing either as it is the only way to truly fight against legitimate evil. Without anger and resentment we would not be able to fight those that lust for pain and suffering.
Let's hope that there are good men in high places that are balanced yet furious.
