Who’s gonna shut us down? We have back-ups. What are they going to do, shut down the entire internet to shut down one message board? There will always be another TheDonald. Always.
The pirate bay is still up and the riaa and mpa spent millions trying to shut it down. Block chain technologies need to hurry up and invent themselves.
The pirate bay are cleaver, their servers are hosted by the pirate party so it would be illegal by constitution to censor them as it's comparable to censor the political opposition.
And should that fish smoker, prime minister blobfish in Sweden find a way to violate the constitution it helps a lot that the data center is located in an old nuclear proof bunker, and supplies large portions of a town with heat during winter. Shutting it down would be like shooting themselves in the foot.
Considering how cucked Sweden is, they sure have based cloud companies.
Like to seem them try. Our step brothers & sisters over at 4chan will have naked pics of all the people responsible for taking us down posted up on the internet within a week
Bahnhof is based, it also helps to store your servers in a nuclear proof bunker close enough to the government that they are forced to negotiate, because any violence would quickly destroy themselves in the process.
it comes down to cost - labor, maintenance, and infrastructure. Its not cheap doing it yourself especially with the amount of traffic this site receives.
Decentralization is the answer, the blockchain and web 3.0 is far from widely available, but until it is, ordering small servers from many different companies should be sufficient.
The tricky part is to sync files and data between, but once that works you get a site that scales horizontally, and it won't give a fuck if a few providers decide to de platform you.

Wouldn't hurt to set up an onion infrastructure.

WSJ is just part of the propaganda machine.
A quick web search shows a company called Klicked Media. I don't know anything about them other than what I read on their cover page.
https://klicked.com/
They will never defeat truth no matter how hard they try
If it's DNS shutdown, just use the IP address.
DNS is easy to fix anyway.
Damn, WSJ has some long arms reaching for those straws they used to write that piece of communist propaganda they call an article.
They have been trying to shut down The Pirate Bay for 20 years now. How did that work out?

Or distribute servers over so many locations in different countries that it's like a game of whack-a-mole
Even better
Interesting photo they chose to use.
Dumb question im sure but why dont sites like this host their own servers?
Nb The most technical thing I know about websites is using the word servers.
it comes down to cost - labor, maintenance, and infrastructure. Its not cheap doing it yourself especially with the amount of traffic this site receives.
Even if you have the servers they'll contact the ISP actually hosting the servers and pressure them to take them down.
Having your own servers is quite a logistical nightmare beyond that and not worth dealing with so long as you have alternatives that do it for you.

This is Bullshit.... We need some Lawyer Pedes - and then let's move this conversation from one box to the next...
