Free and open discourse should be secured with an iron fist. There's no other way for it to survive.
ALL internet moderation should be a crime, except in cases of illegal activity. Instead, third party plugins (something like RES for reddit) would allow users to moderate or modulate their own internet experience. There would still be tools like the masstagger. But no one else can be allowed the power to prevent you from viewing legal content: it only ends in censorship and attempted mind control.
Of course, you can control your website as much as you want if you take full legal responsibility for what's on there, like a magazine would.
