I think your heart's in the right place, but there're a few technical details missing.
Fediverse: lots of Mastodon instances, one account. That means any one mod in any federated instance can ban you.
Your instance can be banned and unfederated, just like Discord.
Your instance can still be deplatformed just like anything else, especially running on a cloud service.
Gab distances from the Federated model (where one rogue admin can wreak havoc over multiple instances) and places control under a "trusted" authority. Trust is relative, I trust Andrew Torba because his values align with mine; unlike Suck a Buck, who's already proven himself to be untrustworthy.
In the Fediverse, you need to trust every admin, which is just not possible.
If you think Gab only exists in one physical location, you'd be mistaken.
Setting up a private mastodon instance probably is- unless you have a fair amount of cash, and experience with geographically dispersed app clustering.
It will be more fragile and subject to attack than a single instance, properly designed.
Mastadon are cucked SJW devs. I know you can make your own instances but fuck them
And mods are SJW scum as well. Eventually Mastodon will die on the vine but live on as code.
Gab is built on Mastodon.

or we can wait until Parler is up and running again
Maybe if they remove the need for a real phone number. Otherwise, Parler is no bueno.
Creators don't want decentralized, no revenue stream that way
