Let me get this straight.

Struggling small businesses who have already had to make cuts to stay afloat are going to have to pay $15/hour making them raise prices or make more cuts or close.

While companies like Walmart and Amazon had record breaking years and are going to be able to eat the cost and then take more business from the small businesses that were forced to close.

This is not a good thing.

53
DroolingElmo 53 points ago +54 / -1

My dishwasher gets $8 an hour. My hostess gets $12 an hour. My floor manager gets $15 an hour.

So what will they think if they all get $15 an hour? I pay my floor manager double the dishwasher and can't afford to pay 15 to dishwasher and 30 to floor manager....

53
Kraznaya 53 points ago +53 / -0

You'll have to double your prices. $15 will become the new $8, and we'll all be poorer for it.

38
Anon747 38 points ago +38 / -0

And then they'll raise the Minimum Wage to $30 per hour to keep giving people a "living wage" so idiots will support them and so on and so on. It's a pyramid scheme.

The real way to bring people out of poverty is to remove regulations and breathe life into the economy, like how president Trump did.

21
Kraznaya 21 points ago +21 / -0

Correct. They'll just keep lifting it higher and higher while refusing to acknowledge the fact that it'll never be high enough and the real minimum wage is always $0

11
thisguy883 11 points ago +11 / -0

This.

I've tried to explain this to many dumb ass liberals who have no idea how basic economics work.

If you decrease regulation, companies wont have to worry about investing money into policies and training for regulations that are no longer necessary, and they will save more money. The more money they save, the more they can invest in the workers or R&D. Either way, they will provide new jobs and better wages. Especially if you remove tax burdens on companies.

Small businesses would thrive. But the BIG CORPORATIONS dont want that. They want you to eat their mcdinners instead of enjoying an authentic dinner made by an authentic chef who has spent years perfecting their meals. They dont want you buying a product from an artisan who has spent years making masterpieces, but instead want you to buy their shitty IKEA-like products that are manufactured in China.

How these liberal fucks dont see this, is beyond me.

Sir_Girth 6 points ago +6 / -0

Exactly. It’s really sad how corrupt everything is.

I’m glad I’m awake, but the downside is I can see the world for what it is.

Outside things look fit and healthy, but peel back a layer or two and you find the rot.

I don’t think it’s getting better anytime soon. Corruption is winning right now.

3
MerchantMan99 3 points ago +3 / -0

But the BIG CORPORATIONS dont want that

This is depressing, but very true. Big corps were once nothing but ideas that started in someone's head. And now that they'd won the free market capitalism game, they want to make sure no one else has that opportunity.

3
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 3 points ago +3 / -0

Don't worry, comrade, that will just expose the real problem: capitalism.

We can all see where this is headed and why they are doing it. The fucking commies are jamming sticks into the spokes of the economy and then will blame capitalism when it crashes.

16
DroolingElmo 16 points ago +17 / -1

I think $24 for a casual dining entree won't go so well unless people pay $4 a gallon for gas. Can that be arranged?

22
Kraznaya 22 points ago +22 / -0

Don't worry, prices of everything are gonna skyrocket. They already are. You won't be the only one charging a lot more.

8
Forgototherpassword 8 points ago +8 / -0

1
Sir_Girth 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s a chilling verse. Way too accurate!

1
LessAndLessIronic 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't support the $15 minimum wage, but pretending that this is the prime driver of inflation is pure unadulterated bullshit.

Inflation is driven by the money printer, pure and simple. It's driven by government spending that "borrows" money into existence, injects it into the military industrial complex, and then multiplies it by 10x or more via state sponsored fractional reserve banking.

Higher minimum wages drive up unemployment and eliminate low-value jobs that simply don't produce enough value to justify the wage. They shrink economic activity by outlawing certain transactions that would otherwise be completed, much like taxation does, but they do NOT significantly drive inflation.

4
thisguy883 4 points ago +4 / -0

Hell, Kamala told a small business owner that if she cant afford to pay her workers 15 an hour, then she shouldn't be running a business.

1
MerchantMan99 1 point ago +1 / -0

2

you will have to raise your prices on everything. 12 dollars for what was once a 7 dollar sandwich. 15 dollars for an entree with a side that was once a 6 dollar special. we're fucked

2
kyblugrass 2 points ago +2 / -0

Seems like a lot of the restaurant owner-operator types I know are preparing and at least publicly cheering this, at least to show solidarity with their employees. I suspect most that are smart enough are probably shitting their pants privately about staying open, considering how hard they're advertising on social media while covid restrictions are beginning to lift.

And if their local tax credits begin to dry up...

1

So they don't pay this higher wage unless forced, and they're cheering about being forced? Dafuq

DiscoverAFire 2 points ago +2 / -0

There's a line on tax forms for voluntary bonus taxes. It averages about $500k annually - That's .000014% of $3.46T the IRS collected. You'd think with all the lefties voting and preaching for higher taxes some of them would put their money where their mouth is.

and Amazon already pays $15/hr, so they will have no new costs

8
BlackPillBot 8 points ago +8 / -0

Amazon pays $7.50/hr. We pick up the slack with our stolen tax dollars and by buying mostly Chinese trash from them. 😞

1
thisguy883 1 point ago +2 / -1

I hate Amazon's leadership, but I dont hate Amazon. More often than not, i've had to use Amazon to buy that random thing I needed that I could literally not find anywhere else.

Someone said to look at the company the product is from and go to them directly. I suppose I could try that, but the shipping is usually ridiculous and prime is free shipping. So, offer me something better and I'll switch today.

3
Sir_Girth 3 points ago +3 / -0

I would suggest you take the added costs and vote in the last way we actually can now.

Vote with your wallet. Vet the businesses you support. Only support businesses that are America First, or MAGA. It will cost more initially, but if we could support a fellow pede with a good idea it might be possible to create our own markets that we control. Businesses that hold the same values as we do. We would be better off, and have more influence that way.

We can’t keep giving power and influence to people who support the Left. If everyone who voted for Trump cut out those companies they would lose billions of dollars.

2
MerchantMan99 2 points ago +2 / -0

I hate Amazon's leadership, but I dont hate Amazon.

What does that even mean? A company IS represented by it's leadership. If you don't like the leadership, stop shopping there until that leadership is replaced.

1
thisguy883 1 point ago +1 / -0

It means exactly what I said. I dont hate Amazon (The product) but I hate Amazon the leadership (Bezos).

Like:

I dont hate my Android Phone, but I hate Google.

I dont hate the Republic, but I hate the people who currently run it.

How hard is that to understand?

1
MerchantMan99 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes, it is hard to understand. Bezos runs Amazon. He is responsible for it's current state. If you like Amazon, then you can thank Bezos for it.

The same with every other example you gave.

1
thisguy883 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well then by your logic, I could never buy anything from anyone or anywhere ever again because all corporations are garbage and most mom and pop shops don't have the shit I need.

I might as well walk everywhere too since most car manufactures are scumbag corporations as well. And also screw buying gasoline right?

It's dumb.

So I can raise hell and make a lot of noise about the leadership of a place, but it doesn't mean I think their product is crap.

As I mentioned before, show me a viable and realistic alternative and I'll switch over today. Problem is, you can't. The day a freedom loving alternative to Amazon comes out, will be the day I switch over and start shopping with them.

Take reddit for example. We all stuck with reddit when TD was still on there, even though we fucking hated the site. As soon as .win was created, we jumped over and never looked back.

1
BlackPillBot 1 point ago +2 / -1

“So, offer me something better and I'll switch today.”

How bout integrity, intellectual consistency, and maybe even your soul?🤷🏼‍♂️

If that’s not enough, I have nothing else to offer you. Bottom line is that we’re all going to have to hurt and sacrifice more as a whole if we even want to have a chance at making it through all this bullshit.

Take care fren. I hope you figure it out. I’m still trying to figure things out and make changes myself, and yes it is going to cost me more time, money, and comfort. It fucking sucks, but realize, you’re not in this alone.

1
thisguy883 1 point ago +1 / -0

How bout integrity, intellectual consistency, and maybe even your soul?

Who cares? I need a product, no other store has it. At the very least, I use smile.amazon and have them donate a portion of my purchase to Judicial Watch.

thisguy883 2 points ago +2 / -0

McDonalds in areas where $15 minimum wage is already a thing have already switched most of their service to automation.

Places in California are already experimenting with robot restaurants. Its the only realistic way to keep prices down. They will replace literally anyone without any knowledge of robotics. Low skilled jobs will be a thing of the past and Dems think that will be a good thing. It will just create a massive poverty spike as kids who come out of high school soon realize that their high school diploma no longer helps them to get a cheap job somewhere so they can get the experience needed to move up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCaDJOGnkuo

9

4
thisguy883 4 points ago +4 / -0

If McDonalds replaced most of their workers with robots, i have a feeling I'd be going to McDonalds more often. Robots, if programmed correctly, can make your food exactly how you order it and they wont fuck up when you say "No ketchup" by flooding it with ketchup

1
VoidWanderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is why I stopped eating out at most restaurants entirely. Even at the nicer places the simplest of requests are usually ignored because either the waitress didn't write it down or the cook just flat out ignored it because he or she is rushing through orders and just working off of memory to make every dish as quickly as possible.

If I tell a robot "no cilantro", the robot doesn't put cilantro in my meal.

1

4
The_Bloofy_Bullshark 4 points ago +5 / -1

The one near me has reviews that are all 1 star and state the reason being that they take forever to get your food to you. It’s not uncommon to sit in the drive thru there for 20-25 minutes.

Another funny thing was driving by and seeing a ton of cars lined up at the drive thru and in all but one, the drivers had masks on “for their health”. If they are really worried about their health, they wouldn’t be eating McDonald’s.

5
Slime-chan 5 points ago +5 / -0

Covid kills fat people more than it kills old people, so maybe we should be talking about McDonald's inciting Covid

2
BigPanda71 2 points ago +2 / -0

A couple weeks ago we picked up food for my wife’s birthday to eat at her parents house. Instead of paying for $8 Kraft Mac and Cheese from the restaurant the kids wanted Happy Meals. I put in an online order and proceeded to wait almost 15 minutes until they came out to bring someone else his order. Turns out one of the idiots that works there accidentally cancelled my order but didn’t tell anyone. So another 5 minutes and I finally had their Happy Meals.

Love the language nuance as well.

...proposal could lift more than 1 million workers out of poverty

vs

it would destroy at least 1.3M jobs.

So it's basically communist laced language saying the proposal might fart unicorns and rainbows but also will actually destroy more than it creates.

The only reason it failed was because people could leave!

This sentiment is the entire justification for globalism. "Our communist policies only fail because people can vote with their feet." They intend to ensure there is nowhere you can go to escape their reach. Then magically everything starts working.

1
thisguy883 1 point ago +1 / -0

They do. Which is why they are doing everything incorrectly. They don't want things to succeed. They want "capitalism" to fail, by forcing things to work opposite of how they would actually work to succeed, in order to force people to move to socialism which will still eventually fail.

Even china with it's mixed economy is going through a lot of issues and even if Trump hadn't done anything they would still be in the precarious position they are where they need a war to prop up their economy because communism does not work.

2
OnlyTrump20 2 points ago +2 / -0

It doesn't lift anyone out of poverty because the cost of living also goes up and that money becomes worthless. It will definitely lower far more people into poverty because everyone on fixed incomes, welfare, social security and such will not be getting raises and they will no longer be able to afford eating at restaurants, which in turn will cause even more people to lose jobs.

So the job loss comes from at least two sources: the businesses that have to close because they can't afford the high wages and the loss of business because the elderly and others on fixed incomes can't be customers anymore.

2
booblitchutz 2 points ago +2 / -0

Raising the minimum wage will only lower the purchasing power of your dollar. It will not lift anyone. It will decimate your savings overnight. But isn’t that really the point? What are Americans doing trying to protect themselves from financial dependence, anyway?

Everyone should immediately quit their job and just bill their boss @ whatever they're currently making. The government will lose out on a ton of taxes each pay period and you can always not file your taxes for 2-4 years without much penalty. You were too busy working, and somehow only pulling in under the threshold for needing to pay taxes. darn.

(In Canada, if your business makes less than ~30k in the year, you don't have to pay taxes on the income, make a business for each of your spouse and kids and you can make a decent living. Hell, the dog could have their own business. It's the democrats after all so make sure it's a company that supports something ridiculous like tranny's storytime and you'll be fine, they never audit shit like that)

People making 16-20 an hour and retirees on a fixed income will get squeezed by the inflation caused by the 15 an hour wage.

"...could lift more than one million out of poverty...."

Of course. Coz their next proposal is to raise unemployment to $1000/week!

I'm sorry but if you're overweight or heavier, you're not in poverty.

Plenty of fat homeless people.

Minimum wage jobs were never meant to be a lifelong career or being able to support a family on...these jobs were for low skill, entry level positions...the first rung on a ladder of progression.

I'd say they know it will destroy the economy, but I think most of the journalists are really that stupid.

So you'll have a net gain of 300K jobs lifted from poverty, while 1M workers can no longer find work because they are undesirable hires.

I’ve said for a long time a higher minimum wage would skyrocket unemployment.

It’s mind blowing people think businesses are going to hire at the same rate or more than they are now if they’re forced to pay their workers over twice the current minimum wage by the government.

It doesn’t even stand up to the most basic logical scrutiny.

How can it lift people out of poverty if most people in poverty don't have a job, at all?

well guys, that's kind of how communism works. 1 million "lifted out of poverty" at the expense of 1.3 million others, whom of which they eventually send to the gulag or kill. Mathematics or basic logic has never been a strong suit of leftist ideology.
