I agree but I think Hollywood is pretty much lost forever. We need more conservative leaning artists to make more movies, music, art and books. I'm interested in watching "Run, Hide, Fight" (although I don't care for Ben Shapiro). I hear it's decent. I think a step towards winning younger kids to conservative ideas is to approach them through culture. I wish conservative leaning artists weren't so afraid to come out and just say they've had enough of being bullied out of a career and make something happen. Plus right now we have the underdog phenomena going for us...it tends to make people interested in what's happening. Now is the time to do it.
I'd like some of these conservative film makers to just make decent shows and movies- nothing too dramatic or overtly political. That's what we're all craving. Good story lines, good characters, good writing. Could be the simplest premise ever, no special effects or expensive set pieces. A show about a family's day-to-day life would say more for conservatism and for all Americans than any action or documentary film.
I agree. I miss the sit-coms from when America was just America and everyone was just trying to live. Nowadays EVERYTHING is political, even cartoons.
I really miss old school Scooby Doo. Except Scrappy....never did trust him.
Scrappy... lol, yeah, he was weird.
I'm currently watching a lot of old movies and shows. The pacing is more engaging and the stories and characters are more believable. Very few special effects and other distractions. The writing had to be good to keep people's attention. It's apparent that those old creators respected the intelligence of their audiences a lot more than they do nowadays.
One of the shows that I'm watching is an old British drama called "Upstairs, Downstairs"- it follows the lives of a wealthy family and their servants. The acting is incredible, all the characters have their own personal struggles, no one is perfect. They get into some of the politics and events of the era, but it is very even-handed and realistic. Downton Abbey tried to rip off this show, but Downton Abbey is trash.
"The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" series from the 1980s is also excellent. I read all the books and this series with Jeremy Brett is the most lively and accurate portrayal of Holmes.
I also enjoy a lot of the Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Thriller. Again, great writing, pacing and acting. I found myself at the literal edge of my seat watching these old black and white shows. They frequently interpreted stories from famous Science Fiction and Suspense writers like Ray Bradbury.
All these shows can be found for free (before they get flagged) on youtube, dailymotion and maybe on lbry.
