But he added that “our concern was that it would be fomented by the president who would say: ‘Look, there’s rioting and chaos — we need to take over the police department and bring in the National Guard.’”
They call us conspiracy theorists, but they actually believed this was a game of Civ where President Trump can just decree himself dictator and it'd work. That's why they didn't authorize troops or additional police for the Capitol Building -- they were scared of their own shadow.
