First world countries are those that align themselves with the United States and European world view
Second world countries are those that align themselves with Chinese/Russian world views.
Third world countries are those that do not align with either US, Chinese or Russian world views.
You often see folks say third world when they mean Banana Republic or sometimes just poor countries.
Also a lot of folks seem to think there is something inherently wrong with being a third world country so they think this is some kind of diss.
This is a common misunderstanding and I see a lot of folks make it.
So you see you can’t, by definition, turn the US into a third world country.
