Put all handshake accounts on thread-start moderation. Have a random trio of mods approve/ deny. That will address most of the issues, I think.
Obviously more mods will be needed. I don’t think that’s an issue based on the number of volunteers from the last call for moderators.
Gab/Epik has a lot of money, and even they are suffering from massive slowdowns. So, picking up and moving seems enormously ineffective, at least initially. You would literally have to create you own data server. This isn’t a simple “plug it in with another ISP” problem. If Gab/Epik are giving warnings, something should be done. Frankly, I think Gab/epik should step up and offer solutions.
One other thing to consider- the Gab/Epik site can likely be shut down in a moment’s notice when the fake president is installed. That would be the end of a lot of sites, including this one.
If you want to have specific discussions of violence, this isn’t (and never was) the place to do it.
Ps - Frankly, Gab isn’t perfect either when it comes to “extremist” discussions. Andrew should know not to cast stones in his own glass house.
We went through this at a place I used to be, they QUADRUPLED THEIR COST & STAFF.
When the finance guys came down and saw that they had more bureaucracy than customers, they killed it off, unfortunately the damage was done, we lost too many customers and it changed the demographic. They ultimately had to change their marketing strategy and keep on a large number of the bureaucrats.
Unpopular opinion:

So basically reddit.
No, more bureaucracy is not the solution.

I understand your point, but there’s only two realistic options:
Neither are desirable.
