It's not uncommon for Asians to join the guard so they can get it on their resume, my good friend did that with the Marine reserves, he ended up doing a few years over in Iraq though.
Though looking at the enlistment statistics, if the VA/MD/DC guard doesn't have more asians than the rest of the military overall the chances of picking 4 guards at random and them all being asian is roughly 1 in 298000.
