The movement to regain control of Ireland is not complete and wasn’t accomplished quickly. Also took prolonged and increased British repression to galvanize a core resistance which enjoyed some popular support. Remember that in the 19th century the Brits starved more than 1,000,000 to death and more left for the US and did the worst jobs and were forced to fight for the Union.
As for what constitutes doing something, normally voting and protesting and communicating with citizens is exactly the right work in a democratic republic. Now that it’s clear our opponents are not just wrong but vile we are in the process of deciding how to proceed. Not as an organized group, but as individuals with shared values.
Joe Biden is a vile, corrupt man who is clearly not fit to be the next President. Do you think it cowardice to not launch some kamikaze mission? Do you think his demise actually changes anything? Heck, do you actually think helping Joe and Kamala and Nancy depart would change a thing?
