I'm trying to stay sane about all this. I at once despised Obama and respected his ability to speak and be persuasive. He struck me as one helluva poker player. Yet he was stymied in his terms in some of the things he wanted to do because he could not get a straight party line vote on them, even though he held both houses. He wasted his political capital on the ACA and as a result lost his control of all three houses. This, even though I think there was plenty of voting fraud going on even in those days. One thing is certain, Joe ain't no Barry.
I don't for a minute think the dim one's have anything like a hard line coalition and they certainly don't have anything like a mandate. They almost lost the house and nearly lost the senate. What most don't realize is that Warnock's is only a two year term and he will face another primary and election and Georgia's legislature seems to be razor focused on ending drop boxes, mass absentee ballot mailouts, requiring ID for an absentee ballot and a coup;e other measures to ensure that the BS that happened this go 'round don't happen again. We'll see.
I wrote that to write this, we must, absolutely must use the liberal/hippie slogan "Act locally Think Globally" (In this case nationally) in the coming two years to undo the damage which was done by local (state) government officials in this election. it is absurd that SCOTUS did not address the outright spit in the face of Pennsylvania Wisconsin and Minnesota walking right past the plain language of the Constitution to enact procedures which enabled this fraud to occur. All three of those states have republican controlled legislatures and it's on us to turn up the heat on them to make them fix that crap.
What I don't yet fathom is what issue Biden is going to waste what little political capital he has on. And it's really obvious that whatever political capital he has is tenuous indeed. He can't get a few thousand to listen to his speeches, and we don't yet know what the long term effects of the document dumps are going to be. So far, every time he ends a speech at least one reporter starts to ask questions about Hunter, or China, or Burisma or some other sore spot on his azz and instead of having any kind of coherent answer, he get's pizzed and walks away. I figure they got their fill of that from Trump. (I think Trumps actions were quite justified in this, Biden knows the goods are true his only course of action is hoping this goes away, I don't think it will) Again, Joe ain't no Barry, he can't figure out how to gracefully deflect embarrassing questions and I don't think that will play well for him.
Every election cycle there are "end of the world" scenarios spun out and every election this winners screw up and the losers pick themselves up, dust off and regroup. Personally I'd love to see some high profile arrests, military tribunals, maybe even a hanging, firing squad or two. It would be a welcome end to the recent events. I'll be shocked if it happens that way.
We've got one major issue facing us at present. Do we primary out the spineless republicans and remake the republican party or do we trash it and start over. That is the real question we face. Keep you powder dry. Things could go south without notice and none of the philosophical questions about how it all went sideways or what comes next will matter. Just my take.
