i work in stem. plenty of ppl i know think that if there was something real the media would tell them, ie election fraud / trump is not a racist / violence on the left against trump supporters etc. they think im the conspiracy theorist even tho i told them about covid and to get supplies, before anyone on MSM did. Man, I wish I would have saved that article. It was 2015-2013? I didn't think much of it at the time but it was fascinating. It said 87% I believe was left oriented media. It's FAR WORST today. Look up the concept of "normalcy bias." It is a cognitive bias that prevents people from recognizing dire emergencies, thinking everything is fine and normal, which then prevents them from taking proper action.
My wife had normalcy bias something fierce. She recognizes that shit is seriously wrong right now, but kept regressing into "nothing is going to happen" because its all so insane.
Every time she did this I'd launch into a review of the past 12 months, remind her that she's literally been watching the country and even the world crumbling in real-time right before her very eyes, and ask if she still thinks nothing is going to happen.

We lived in DC for years and seeing streets we used to walk down on a daily basis barricaded with military checkpoints finally red pilled her. The only way we can regroup on a foreign country is if Texas secedes and takes a big chunk of red America with it. But there's many differences. We can mount an effective defense in America if we start to organize immediately, secure the regions we still control, and make it clear that NO amount of leftism will be tolerated in our territories under ANY circumstances.
It'll hurt us in the short run because we'll have to ban access to big tech services and megacorps that pose as businesses but are really agents of communism. In the long run it will be a huge benefit though as we'll unleash a wave of innovation and rebuild a new economy.
My fiance is the same way. Early in the pandemic, I explained to her that the lockdown wasn't going to "end in 2 weeks like they said." And that it would likely extend for well beyond a year, and they would probably ease it up, then tighten it more, ease it up, and tighten it more. She said this was nonsense. It was 2 weeks to flatten the curve.
Now she keeps saying the same thing about how yeah it lasted longer than expected and that was bullshit and they lied, but soon everything will be back to normal again.

It’s normal in a universe where Biden called the majority of the troops in DC who are guarding him “white supremacist terrorists”. So they know they’ve pissed off most average enlisted military by demonizing them, they realized they fucked up, and then it dawns on them that this might have caused them a security problem.

My husband is former NG - it pissed him off to hear that they didn't trust the soldiers. Regardless of someone's personal opinion of the CiC, these men and women swore an oath. The way I see it, unless upholding their oath means arming themselves against the incoming admin, then there's nothing to fear.
I also saw an interesting thread last night: one in which a female vet made the point that based on the logistics and resources needed to "secure" the capitol in the manner in which they have, this had to be planned in advance...months in advance. Just food for thought...
Yea I’m not really expecting any solders to kill anyone just because they were insulted. Practically every single one is going to follow their oath. But you know something is wrong when the politicians are as frightened as they are.
As for the advanced planning that doesn’t surprise me because the leadership will “wargame” multiple scenarios out ahead of time and plan for anything that seems possible then prepare for anything that seems likely to be coming up. So I don’t think that’s evidence that current deployment was conclusively decided months ago, just that they expected trouble and a high likelihood of needing to occupy DC for various reasons (including riots if the election was “overturned”).
Less likely things will have plans, like the military actually has plans for crazy stuff like alien invasion and highly unlikely stuff like that, but little or no preparation started until something looks more likely to happen.
