My father-in-law received a letter a few days ago demanding that he remove his signs. One sign in particular had been up since the 2016 primaries.

The letter: https://kekpe.pe/i/6004993ef2ee0.jpg

The signs: https://kekpe.pe/i/600499609f634.jpg, https://kekpe.pe/i/600499840f751.jpg

The ordinances: https://kekpe.pe/i/600499b387396.jpg, https://kekpe.pe/i/600499f559968.jpg, https://kekpe.pe/i/60049a174f902.jpg

The letter is terribly written but I do believe its authentic. Real letterhead and bond paper, anyway.

My favorite is the lowercase Trump. Dickheads.

Is there anything they can do?

I originally thought they aren't "political signs" (Except for the Mike Kelly one). If I wanted my last name as a sign in my yard how does that make it political? Or maybe reword the sign that uses the word trump. Such has, "Biden will never TRUMP this county"

However, it appears to me that all signs needed a permit anyway and they chose not to enforce it for 4 fucking years.

What's funny is that his wife had wanted them taken down for fear of being targeted. I tended to agree with them but now this letter pissed me right-the fuck-off.

Any help will be great. My father-in-law reads TDW daily so I will be sending this link to him.

Thanks!

I thought those kinds of laws were targeted at campaigns that put political signs up on public property. They fine political parties for each sign they find up after that date.

If it's on his own land that should be freedom of speech.
