I'm not sure if I see Russia jumping in later but sooner, though it's possible. China has been poking at Russia's sovereignty. Vladivostok is good recent example. Their diplomatic relations have been increasingly worsening.
Russia nor the US care to occupy and takeover each other's land. I cannot name a single person I know who wants to attack a Russian and take over their lands. Whereas, China is showing that they actively want to invade other lands. I bet Taiwan will be invaded this year.

Russia will be an uneasy ally just like in WW2. But for different reasons, and I see a bigger potential for mended relations than before.
