If you think about it, there's been a segment the whole 4 years giving up hope at the first difficulty. "He'll be impeached... Mueller will get him on some minor crap..." etc.
Even back during the Bush Snit Tape talking about chicks, the same types were like "It's all over! Hillary will get in!" Then it turns out okay and they get back on the Trump Train at the next stop.
