I’ve also always wanted to pose this question to a moderator or admin here, I know there’s no monetization here, and any attempt to use fiat based currency system would amount in account freezes. But I guess I’ll make my pitch!
I’ve been really thinking of this for awhile, what if this site was funded via a “WIN” ERC-20 crypto currency token, here me out.
The idea behind this token is just like BAT and Brave. Companies can buy into this token for advertising shares on the site, and regular users can donate for the platform they are getting just to do it and/or to receive an ad free system. You could also implement a “gilding” system like Reddit on .Win communities, buy WIN tokens and reward good posts, that they receive an ad free experience for a month, offering even further incentive to buy in.
You have an ICO, we get a baseline value of the token (which I think would be quite high to be frank based on the traffic of this site and it’s necessity in the state of U.S affairs at the moment).
But I think something like this could lead to Gab, Win Communities, basically our whole own ecosystem of web marketshare.
Hell, take a look at BAT that Brave use (also an ERC-20 token), it has a current market cap of $400 MILLION. They told us to create our own internet, why not do it? It’s possible right now. Just think of the Alexa traffic here, and the possible things we could do with a simple ERC-20 token.
Decentralization is the future, and really this site could piggy back onto it. I can program it! Do an ICO with 45,000 tokens. Then see what advertisers are willing to pay, the rest is split up between users at $1 each or whatever. I think easily the coins initial market cap could be half a million.
Just imagine this coin reaches even a $1 million dollar market cap and what the left would do seeing us literally create our own billion dollar space? We don’t need PayPal, we don’t need anyone but ourselves. The iron is hot to strike now. I mean this has excited me for awhile what could be done here, and I don’t think anyone would be mad to see one ad a page and a sponsored post here or there to receive the level of freedom this site offers.
