This is the result of the sin of the Nation and the people. Our leaders are sickos and have been decades while the masses remained silent. We allowed God/prayer to be removed from schools and allowed the massacre of the unborn. Now we are reaping what we have sown over the decades and only a return to Jesus through repentance and forgiveness will save this Nation. This 'situation' is beyond man, far beyond.
The people orchestrating this are few in number while Christians alone are millions. Christians in churches, for the majority, sat back and did nothing but watch evil take victory after victory.
Planned Parenthood is from the pit of hell and we could send it back there through the power of prayer in Jesus but few Christians will make the effort to do so. Jesus wants Christians to do the things they can do and He will do all the things people cannot do. If Christians won't do the former, Jesus will not do the latter.
Most of the Christian leadership is so afraid of its own shadow that they preach meekness and tolerance as the highest virtues above all else. The church has abdicated any play in determining the future of this country. And so many people smugly follow thinking they are somehow more moral than people who actually want to stand up and participate in this country and its direction.
Pastors have been getting paid for decades to dumb down their sermons and join government initiatives to target effective leadership that surfaces within churches.

Democracy, true democracy as in majority rule, leads to mob rule. The founders knew this, and as a result they instituted the electoral college as a safeguard against mob rule.
Do not be so quick to dismiss the electoral college, it is a much needed safeguard and was an extremely wise move from founders.
The electoral college system ensures that all states have representation at the federal executive level. If we switch to a popular vote, only the most populated states (NY, CA, and TX) get to decide who the president will be and everyone else gets ignored.
Our country is a union of individual states that each have their own set of issues that need representation at the federal level. For instance, farming is very important to my state, but is an insignificant issue to the most populated states. A switch to a popular vote would guarantee that my state's issues will be ignored and only issues that affect our densest urban areas will be represented.
This is already happening on the state level. New York and California have got plenty of farms, but their needs aren't being addressed at the state level.
