The only way for democracy to be restored is by the people.
Revolution is not a new concept in the world, its a cycle. When the power pendulum swings too far, the people bring it back, sometimes peacefully, many times violently.
The elites are only a small number of people, just ask Ceaușescu how quickly the tides can change. One day he is the dictator of 30 years, killing millions of people, his military carrying out the orders to do so without a question in their minds.
The next day, his entire country rises up after decades of having the boot smashed on their necks, they give him an hour long trial, walk him and his wife out into the street and put 4 30 round magazines in them.
That did not eliminate corruption in their government, however, since the revolution in 1987, the Romanian people are not afraid to topple their government when corruption rears its ugly head, and they have forced out several governments simply by the power of the people.
They are still in a fight for democracy, but the people are very watchful and spring into action the very second they smell something fishy.
It is always a fight to maintain the power of the people over their government.
But its always a noble fight for the people to fight their corrupt government, it is actually their duty.
Democracy has been an illusion for decades.
