The benefit is you know what they know, and you figure out their plans based on what they ask/say to Pence.

While I agree pence was playing a role, it is weird that Trump hired a few too many incompetent people, and refused to fire others. I suppose the play always hinged on the election and the surrounding fraud, so they were just killing time until then. Make it appear you are weak so their defense is down. At the last minute Trump fired a bunch of people and installed his own guys so I have faith in the plan.
