2397 Trump discovered Pence was a Deep State traitor before Jan. 6th. Why couldn’t Ryan stay in office until Trump was impeached?
If Ryan had stayed, then it would look like he pushed/endorsed the Russiagate scandal in order to get the VP slot.
By "retiring" he would look like he had no ambitions and nothing to do with it.
That makes sense. But he could have waited until impeachment came up for a vote in the House before he retired.
