It's too warm down there, everything grows. Come on up to the North East, winters keep the herd thin and fit. Never get lazy around here.

Definitely, sounds like you have the right setup! We all around here say that "your summers are like our winters". You need to manage your climate, just in a different way.

Smart move except believing you could defend it.

Didn't work out for ruby ridge or the Texas religious compound.

The best defense is keeping quiet.

You cannot beat the state.

Don't forget to lower your taxable income so you don't fund the federal government working against you. Oh and sign up for your gov mint cheese

...what OP said.

I live a similar lifestyle, except in the mountains of NW Oregon. Five men with chainsaws can grind all mobile ground movement around here to a halt.

That said, two things come to mind:

  1. I suspect the biggest problem won't be the government, but refugees from the big cities (in my case, heading for the coast).

  2. The only reason the ATF and FBI were able to pull off Ruby Ridge, Waco, etc was because they weren't under constant guerilla attacks at their bases of operation. Now if you redirect your attention to The Bundy Standoff, you'll find a very different outcome.

Ocala area is really nice. You can get acres upon acres and still be close enough to civilization. You’ll get a few hard freezes a year but that’s about it

Had family in Ocala since the 70’s. Dirt roads and rolling hills were always a sight for a south Florida boy like me. I’m thinking of moving there as well. Hopefully it stays as it was and doesn’t turn too quickly from people like me bringing in money.

I’ll bring my guns, not my attitude.
