Need to get back to land owners only. No one else has any real stake in the country. Also, ban anyone who is a citizen of another country from owning land. It might not solve all our problems, but we'd be in a position to solve the rest.
Isn't it less of a gendered problem and more about "how" they are treated. When you're young and pretty, its quite easy to lift a finger (or leg) to get what you want. Some of that is learned and some is taught.
But both genders feed into the problem - men being horny and stupid. Women choosing to be shallow and being coddled. I don't know that removing their right to vote is the solution as they are still people with a voice like any other group...Hell, I think 18 year olds (not in the military) should be prevented from voting too.
Just spit balling, but silencing a "voice" doesn't seem in the spirit of the constitution. Educating the idiots with those voices seems a far more fair solution.
The funny thing is just how profoundly self unaware that dude was. He was a lifelong socialist, and he claimed that Animal Farm was a critique solely of Stalinism. His whole life he never realized that his writing is a critique of all leftist ideology, not just the ones that didn't turn out how he'd hoped.
The man was a living embodiment of "it wasn't real socialism."
Read some of his non literature writing. He was legitimately that unaware of it all. He actually thought that there was any meaningful difference between what he advocated and what Stalin brought about.
He absolutely was one of them, he just didn't know it himself.
His issue was that he has a desperate desire to help the poor, but couldn't concieve any other way to uplift them than Socialism, which he also knew from experience, didn't work.
So it created a dissonance inside him where almost all of his professional work was his honest, intellectual side bitterly attacking Socialism in practice, while still believing emotionally and naively that some manifestation could work.
I honestly think if Orwell could see the state if the poor in the West today, he'd be a Capitalist. The days of 60-hour weeks in a mineshaft just to barely get by are long gone.
He lived through and was aware of every single Soviet genocide. He spent decades advocating for socialism, watched it kill a hundred million innocent people, and then still clung to the idea that he was right all along.
He fought in the Spanish Civil War, where his comrades went out of their way to torture nuns and priests to death in the name of Karl Marx, and to defile literally hundreds of Catholic cemeteries.
He had everything he needed to put two and two together, he simply didn't do it.
but there is no doubt that the books were on the nose.
Against his intent. That's my point. Some of his books were on the nose, but he didn't realize why in his lifetime.
What’s funny is that both the right and the left use it to attack the other side.
The left would pick up a piece of roadkill and wave it at you if they thought it would work, they have no capacity for discernment and no care for the truth.
Any of them, although I'd say the one that most reveals his mindset is Road to Wigen Pier(keep in mind, the book is literal socialist propaganda). He really does buy his own bullshit. I also read a few of his, I dunno what you'd call it, letters to the editor of a bunch of newspapers back then, no idea how'd you get a hold of those these days.
The man was simply autistically unable to actually put cause and effect together when it came to socialism.
Than you for the suggestions. I honestly never even looked into if he wrote any other books than his popular dystopia ones. It just always amazes me when people have read them thinking he was giving a warning rather than it being as "this is what we have planned" bc they are all in the same club.
It was not a "this is what we have planned". He actually thought all of those things and was trying to warn against them. He just thought such things would only occur under a Stalinist system, rather than socialism(and in fact any leftism) in general. In essence, he had a gigantic blind spot.
Catalonia deals with his experiences in the Spanish Civil War, and exposes the power-mad factionalism of the left.
Pier is him living in the crushing poverty of industrial England, and explaining why, despite what it offers on the surface, the poor still hate Socialism, and why they're right to.
Like the poem by Martin Niemoller, "first they came for the socialists," and he keeps listing different names for Socialists and also Jews. It's like they never appreciated that there was no difference. That is the point though. Divide and conquer. Let the plebs argue over who gets the stolen money as long as they don't ever want freedom to succeed on their own merits.
British socialists did (and still do) think of their strain as very different from the others, and very civilized. And in the past they have been. And they might still be. Honestly, I suspect Corbyn would have been bad on economics, but much better than Boris on everything else. But I don't trust any socialists, not even civilized British ones, and there are many uncivil British Labourites too.
A lot of women on the other side have had their humanity stripped from them, in the name of defeating tribalism. In-group-ism. The wrong kind of tribalism. But good tribalism, familialism, is where you get your ability to be kind. Nobody can be kind to persons far away. Only right near you.
You can get quite hellish without that.
Then, after you have that, you can negotiate honorable treaties with other tribes.
There is no tribalism in the Ten Commandments. Only familialism. That is where they differ from Marxism. Marxism says, be tribal, in the sense that your social Class is a your only tribe.
Post quote plz

Amen and Awoman. I'm 52 and based as fuck. I don't think most of my friends should have the franchise.
Awesome, thanks!

Nah, his books were in plain sight truths of what they had in store for us. He was one of them, too.

I loved “A Boy and His Dog”
Which of his non-lit would you recommend?

One of my favorites is that ever present faggot Umberto Eco. His list of traits of "fascism" literally equates to "not being a commie."

Jesus is the truth.
1984 really is the most important book ever written
Time keeps on driftin driftin driftin
Into the future
I sat down and watched 1984 for the first time last night... Truly horrifying, and a completely plausible potential future
