We've known that it was much warmer and with higher CO2 levels in prehistoric times for decades. It also had much larger biodiversity than we have now. The only thing lower CO2 levels do is make it more comfortable for humans and helps speed up the normal ice age cycle earth goes through.

Yes, precisely. It's been both warmer and colder at various periods. We're actually due for another ice age and possibly SHOULD be attempting to 'warm' the globe to thwart it. The sea was 500 ft lower during the last Ice Age and the coastline was all the “shallow” light blue ocean on the atlas due to all the water being frozen on the Northern Ice Cap. It's gone cyclicly back and forth like that for millions of years.
