I saw a comment on youtube (yeah, I know, really reliable source of info) in which someone had stated that the pictures of the NG they've seen from DC indicate the weapons don't have magazines in them.
Any Sunday Gunday experts here that can confirm that?

Correct - at least the pics Iāve seen on MSM. Maybe some of the other National Guard troops had magazines but IMO they look profoundly silly walking around with M4s without magazines. I expect they have several 30 round mags in their chest rigs or mag holders but they were not āarmedā in the pics I saw.
Yes, in some photos I've seen they don't have magazines in their rifles...that does not mean that they don't have magazines within easy access (and it doesn't take long to put one in and chamber).

Holding a gun with out a magazine in it might scare grandma and the general public but any one that was planning something would know how guns work and would know the NG arenāt a threat. in this environment its common to keep the magazines in front pouch until an order to lock and load is ordered.
