I don't know much about 308, but I can look more into it, I was looking into S&W EZ 380 due to less recoil. Damn arthritis decided it was time to start developing in my both thumbs from my previous job. They hurts for days after a day at range after trying Sig P936 I think? can't really remember.
My mom had the same issue (Arthritis) and enjoys her EZ. 380 is a tad expensive, but still available at places I've gone to. There are some tricks to fix the slide lockback, sometimes the magazinesones aren't the most consistent for that.
Already been working with 9mm, 12 gauge, 5.56, .22 magnum and we are looking into .380
