They get three meals a day, a roof over their head, and a bed.
Free healthcare.
No private property.
Everyone is equal. (They even dress alike!)
The ruling class finds you a job.
There is scheduled exercise and fitness time.
Hours of leisure time is available for reading, etc.
Free classes and books to better yourself are offered. Some people earn degrees.
Advancement is based on loyalty to the ruling class.
Criminals only get brief time outs in solitary.
Other people pay for it all.

I don't understand why everywhere else in the world this is used for punishment and people are always trying to escape? /s

Because they believe themselves to be the wardens, and what you described is what everyone else deserves

The politicians certainly see themselves as wardens. The little college whelps think they'll be content as the inmates.
