Interesting tidbit: AF1 has more takeoffs than landings. How? -When Nixon resigned, his resignation was slated to be effective at 12 noon. He left DC prior to that time on AF1 (as any plane carrying POTUS is going to have that call sign). Before landing, 12 noon passed, Ford was sworn in, and the plane carrying Nixon could no longer be designated as AF1

Interesting. I immediately thought " What about LBJ?" AF1 was on the ground when he was sworn in. I missed that part of history.
