IS geeks needed!
We all have at least one computer that is not used a lot of the time and we have a lot of unused bandwidth. Could we load VM servers (Linux assumed) on our PCs and provide a virtual server farm for sites? Almost the torrent model, but not quite. Like the SETI project, but not quite.
Big tech is suppressing us, but we have trillions of CPU cycles laying around. We have bandwidth.
I propose a distributed AWS-like system using Linux. We run virtual servers when we feel like it. When it runs, it contributes. When it doesn't, then it doesn't.
I think Big Tech has underestimated the power of the public's capabilities both with CPU and bandwidth.
Ideas welcome!
We’re already building the Decentralized Internet using things like Unstoppable Domains, Fleek.io, and Piñata. Also Filecoin and others.
