The NG is diet military... just not quite the real thing. there are a few very few guard units that are active enough to maintain standards such as 19th and 20th SFG. I served with them in Afghanistan Iraq the Philippines and other than the above mentioned they are all undisciplined and severly lack skills. the only 2 units i've ever seen take their job serious is the above mentioned SFG's.....
