I could level similar criticism at the FN 5.7, but at least in that case you are moving fast enough to defeat a lot of kevlar, and you are over the threshold where you start to see actual tissue damage from temporary stretch cavity.
These are solidly into PDW territory -- great for lowering training requirements of troops that you'd otherwise issue a handgun to, and as you said making it at least a little bit effective out to 100 or 150 meters.
All things being equal though, 5.56x45 is going to be a serious overmatch to these (a statement that one doesn't get to make very often). Cover penetration, maximum point blank range and terminal ballistics should all be
