In ancient China it was discovered that in any given population only 5% were leaders and the rest were waiting for others to lead them. They used this knowledge to control their people. In World War II prison camps the Japanese would spy on the compounds, pick out the leaders, then separate them from the rest of the prisoners and in this way keep them from rioting and trying to make escape attempts.
So, it's why advertising and politics repeat things over and over...it annoys the 5% but the 95% remember it and respond (and *vote * accordingly).
Great point... Would be interesting if there was a way to simulate different intelligence levels so that we could all feel what life is like at different spots along the intelligence bell curve
