Children are taught to be liberal. As they grow older and develop critical thinking skills, they eventually realize the world that has been portrayed to them is nothing like the real world. The moment they think for themselves, they are red-pilled. It takes some smarts and life experience, and then that 'ah-ha!' moment. That time may come in high school, college, or more likely, once they get a real-world job and experience that for a bit. Some people it doesn't hit until later in their life.
And when they finally learn, the black cloud is lifted from above them.
Thing is that I wasn't always a sheep, but I had no idea what the truth was. I was redpilled for Democrat standards, if you know what I mean. I was mainly just Democrat because everyone else was, so it was cultural.

There are a fair number of ppl who like me who don't fit neatly into the "conservative" box, as I consider myself more libertarian. I was all for the anti-war Democrats and left when they went after George Bush. I didn't agree with their politics, but I was glad to see people pissed off at Wall St., shining a light on how tilted the table is. I remember when the left used to at least stand up against censorship and big corporations. It was all just posturing though, of course. I didn't agree with the left about much, but now if you have any scruples at all you can't be a Democrat.

I remember boastfully professing that everything I did and every action was political. My dear old mate who was about 75 at the time, looked at me like I was crazy, but he never tried to argue, because what was the point. He died last year at 94 and I'm glad that, before he died, I was able to tell him what a dickhead I was and that he was right about most of my rants.
