He may have meant the sheer size of the crowds. Regardless, he was almost obligated to disavow. If he did not they would most certainly have gone after him for some absurd war crimes charge or something. Also, I don't think many of his supporters participated in that "event" tbh. They may have followed a crowd of people in there, sure.

I still wouldn't conflate that with telling people to break into the Capitol building.
