I can understand a small buildup of troops if they are scared. But the only thing I can think of is what is Trump going to release that the Dems feel they need a full army in DC?

The Dems aren't the ones putting the troops on the ground. They can make requests, but Trump has to authorize it. And now Biden is expressing concern about the potential for someone from the NG to harm him. It doesn't make any sense.
