The further north you are, the less the heat is a concern. In DFW, there is only about 40-60 days that are high 90s, maybe a few days of low 100s. There was a freak year were we had 30+ days of mid 100s, but that is rare.
The rest of the year is pretty mild. Winters are very mild, only get a few days a year of below freezing, and it often does not last more than a day or 2.
Was about to say the same thing. Lived in DFW for years and moved to south central Tx. That extra10 degrees and 20% humidity difference are greatly felt!! I miss the great hair days I had in Dallas. Lol

The humidity makes high 90s and temps lower than ~45 brutal.
Humidity not that bad in DFW. San Antonio and Houston, especially, have brutal humidity, though.
