These people won't get to "enjoy" communism if it comes. Pol Pots, Stalin, Mao, they killed off their "useful idiots" by moving them out into the country to be worked to death.

I watched a documentary about North Korea once where they asked why they hadn't seen any handicap or disabled people while they were there. The Koreans told them there are no handicap people in North Korea. Really stuck with me.
This is exactly why any kind of censorship is wrong. People need to SEE the videos that the media and education system bury as "too graphic" etc.
History classes should show the Cambodian Killing fields, the muslims and Christians being lined up and shot in China, the videos of terrorist and MS-13 beheadings, and the footage from Tienemen square.
These videos stick with you, yes they're graphic, but we owe it to the men and women that have suffered to bear witness and make sure that it never happens here.

They will likely crack down on Antifa and BLM first, since these two groups won't put up nearly as much of a fight (and since Antifa and BLM are mostly urban, they're easier and faster to round up.)

I'm far from a trekkie (watched most of ST:TNG during it's original run) but these idiots don't even know the lore of their own techno utopia. In Star Trek universe peace was only secured after matter composers were invented. They had to go post scarcity to make communism work. Did I miss us entering a post scarcity society? IIRC pre-matter composer world of Star Trek was a nightmare dystopia.

It does though. It represents their ideal form of it, but it is communist. They have the technology to fabricate anything, so they used it to make food for everyone and being the crew of the ships is basically the only job there is and it's basically a volunteer job.

Picard explains it in the movies, not the show and that's already an issue because he's explaining what the Federation is to someone that just lived through a world war and still needs the framework of money, which she even talks about. The Federation is a post scarcity version of capitalism. There was still currency during TOS, and that was only phased out in the TNG movie scripts later on because Gene wasn't around anymore.
Communism is not a meritocracy, the Federation was until jj and kurtzman got their grubby little paws all over it.

The idea of them not interfering with other planets becomes an afterthought.
If you're talking about the speech I think you're talking about, he didn't say that. He said that the drive to explore drives them to seek out new things. You're pulling from it what you want and ignoring what was actually said.

Yep. They need machines that can make any kind of food you want and alien conflicts just to get it to work.
But it's not communism. The federation is technically a limited government and the member planets have complete sovereignty. People are completely self reliant and have the freedom to live their lives as they see fit and go wherever they please. No one is ever forced to join Starfleet or perform a specific job. The federation doesn't monitor or control people in any way and there is no money and no taxes. The "means of production" belong to the individual as opposed to the public (government) or corporations since everybody has a personal replicator and because they have access to AI and all Human knowledge at all times they are free to learn any skill they want or need.
They only part of Star Trek that is pure fantasy and could never work is the absolute diversity aspect which only works because it is a TV show but also shows that Star Trek is not communism because communists have never embraced diversity and freedom of thought or expression. If history has taught us anything, it's that commies are more racist and intolerant than fascists. Just look at the modern left as a prime example of that.
