Long story short: Many years ago I tried to join the military. I was disqualified due to a medical condition. Fast forward (literally 10 years) to present day. I finally have an approved waiver. But now... I'm having mixed feelings.
There is no doubt I still want to join. I just have many concerns. I know that whoever is in office is the commander in chief, but I would not want to serve under an evil administration. I have 0 faith in the integrity of our system. I feel like America is falling apart with all these fucking evil scum getting elected and trying to destroy it from the inside. I have no idea wtf is going to happen with that jackass in office. There are so many mixed thoughts and emotions going through my mind I have no idea what to do. It has been 10 years and I am FINALLY this close to actually getting in... and then our election gets stolen. I would have been so honored to serve under Trump.
What are your thoughts on serving in the military now? What will be different? Why or why not? I am at a loss now on what to actually do and why. Can I please get some feedback and thoughts or opinions on this matter? I would love to hear from current service members, prospective service members, other government/DoD employees, or even just civilians! I want to hear advice, encouragement, cold hard truth, literally ANYTHING! I am at such a loss...

Don't join...he is going to start other wars and throw your life away...
You have NO idea how much the conservatives failure of justice to Bush has REALL done them(and Trump) in

It will go like this. If you join, you will do what you are told regardless of your oath. If you refuse even blatant illegal orders you will be put in the brig for ever how long and made to suffer and be handed a duplicitous backstabbing attourney to argue your case at a court martial. You will be found guilty, dishonorably discharged and/or imprisoned. Or you don't join and get covid camped with the rest of us. I pray daily none of this happens, but I see it happening nonetheless.
We are going back to endless war under the deep state rule and potentially using the military against people that don't agree with the government(yes they have already started this conversation). Really a sad thing that this is something we have to worry about in this country.
Well, if you play game theory, it might be good to go in, if it is a good school. Get all the free education you can...But, the military may get you an in to the Inner Party. Just hide your true thoughts and don't be brainwashed. If you get high enough you can join weapon manufacturers or whatever after you leave the military. On the other hand, if Trump is successful, then you don't have any worries.
Hell to the fuck no!
Even if you make it past the political vetting, Bidens warhawks will send you to your fucking death, for a causethat no one but the corporatist give a shit about.
They think of you as a rube. Why do their dirty work.
For what it’s worth I was in under Obama. The current administration will undoubtedly impact your experience but you gotta consider the American people first and foremost.
If we all flee the military then we are surrendering one of the few vestiges of American society where conservatives have a strong presence. Also... this might be your only chance. Would you want to go the rest of your life regretting that you missed an opportunity?
Your decision is yours right now. Once you sign that line and take that oath you no longer are entitled to your own thoughts. Think about that. Don't enlist if you're not comfortable taking orders to lay fire on someone innocent. -Prior service under GW/Oblah blah
You're lucky, today, you have a choice. The draft was still in effect when I was young, I had to register when I was 18, but never had to go. If I could still join I would...this is still America, the greatest country on Earth! It will continue to be, you just have trust in God! We have to continue to fight for freedom, if not in the service, then here on land, either way we are all in this together! Better benefits in the service though. Biden and the corrupt will be held accountable...have faith! Any wars moving forward under Trump will only be to protect our nation!
I struggled with this same concept out of High School with W. Bush.
I never joined up once Obama got in.
I almost joined when Trump got in but life got in the way.
My advice is, presidents come and go. When you join you swear an oath to the constitution, not the president. If you want to do it and you dont, you'll regret it. Life is a lot longer than 4-8 years.
