But it isn't smart to do things solely based on what could happen in the short term. We plan for things based on what could happen over both so that in the event the short term is a loss, the long term goal remains.
I always thought about the short term until I got older and realized that the long term is what really matters.
Sadly, by the time most people realize that, the options they had when they were focused on only the short term are far fewer. This is why that saying, youth is wasted on the young, is so popular.
Imagine being so brilliant that some 250 plus years ago, a bunch of dudes sat around and planned the government we have now. They looked backward, they looked forward, they argued and they argued. And they came up with a government that was so brilliant it became the envy of the world for centuries.
But they warned that it could only exist as long as there were rules and those rules were upheld.
The wild thing is, what they based those rules on was the truth itself. When the truth is undermined, that would signal the end but funny thing about the truth is it ALWAYS comes out.
As long at the truth exists somewhere, we are gonna make it, even when it seems like there's no hope. Those 10 year old kids we've seen going back and forth in class, THAT is the truth.
If 10 year old kids know it when they see it, we should too.
Some generations suffered their entire lives hoping that their suffering would relieve the burden of future generations. That is a harsh reality. But what eventually won out was the truth.
So here we are. Our lives are pretty dang good but something doesn't feel right because the truth is being attacked. This is where we must keep bringing it to light. Thats why this site is here, that's why so many people are here.
As a doomer, I hope this is true so much, but I just don't see it happening.
