Is that even legal?

Not a chance, but now that we've put the rule of law behind us I could believe it

Laws don’t matter anymore in Authoritarian USA

Does legal matter?

Just checked its under notification and advanced settings. There is a spot for presidential alerts and you can NOT turn it off

What's the exact steps to get there. I don't even have an advanced under notifications. What's your phone?

Democrat 4 points ago +4 / -0

I have the note 10+

I went into my settings and 'searched' for "emergency alerts"

SuperMario [S] 2 points ago +3 / -1

Did that. Nothing shows up at all..

Notifications>Advanced Settings> Wireless Emergency Alerts. Pretty detailed options to turn on and off different types of alerts. Presidential alerts on and cannot be changed.

Yeah I have a note 10+ too...this is not here and I haven't updated. Emergency alerts are under messages setting inside the messages app.

What's your build number. My father has the exact same phone and has build DTKA and mine is DTL1

mustangjayyyme 1 point ago +1 / -0

DTKA

Oh also I'm t-mobile. Who's your carrier? Maybe it's a carrier thing.

2
mustangjayyyme 2 points ago +2 / -0

I am on t-mobile as well.

SuperMario [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

What the hell. Same provider. Same build. Same phone. Different settings.

SuperMario [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

So you got DTKA and no setting. OK.. What's your phone model #? Mines a SM-975U

2
mustangjayyyme 2 points ago +2 / -0

SM-N975U

2
mustangjayyyme 2 points ago +2 / -0

I would think they would be set up almost identical, but may be based on carrier?

My father was following these settings to make sure his alerts were working and sent me instructions how to check myself. Went to that page and mine is totally gone. I updated last night. He didn't. Wtf Samsung.

Check under messages app, under settings, emergency alert settings. I have a note 10+ and this is where my settings are...not on the actual settings menu...but I will be delaying update though. Just in case.

Samsung is a korean company, they're not removing shit for biden

1
Ivleeeg 1 point ago +1 / -0

they just moved it to notifications instead of network settings.

Ivleeeg 1 point ago +1 / -0

Settings>Notifications>advanced settings

SuperMario [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Looking into this. It seems it's potentially in three different places. Settings communication. Settings notifications. Or the messenger app settings. We have a few phones. Did a few updates. Lots of them moved. But to no uniform location.

Also. One dude here. Has the exact same model, build and carrier, yet his settings we're difference then ours. So I have no idea what's going on

You can't turn off the important alerts like weather and presidential alerts in the US. Only amber alerts and silver alerts etc..

My S20FE is now missing this as well. Searching for emergency or alert or both together do not bring up any of the emergency alert things in settings Edit- the only place emergency alerts has any sort of entry is in the messaging app itself. There isn't any entry in the phone settings as there used to be.

or its under Apps & Notifications, as this is an alert and not a connection. That is where it is at on pixel phones running android 11.

If my father didn't have the exact same model phone. Same OS Verizon and one build behind me. I'd of figured that might be it. But he has the settings there. Plain as day

How do you disable updates?

I also have a Note 10+ and it only gives me the option to postpone it for so long, after which the update becomes mandatory.

SuperMario [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

Yep same issue. Just postpone.
