Yes 82nd Airborne AA patches. I didn't get a good look at the arrowhead patch but could have been Army Special Forces.

saw a picture on line of Army infantry being award a similar star patch for serving in Iraq. maybe that is what it was.
What you seen is probably one side was his current unit the other side is his deployment patch. The right side under the American flag is the deployment patch. The other side is his current unit.
"combat patch" ssi fwts ..... not uncommon for someone to have an all american patch on one side and 2id or group patch. Though they would prefer to be all American on both sleeves lol
highly doubt people there to do serious business are making a 7-11 run.

it looked like an arrowhead or a spear point pointing down with insignia sewed into the shape. I wish I got a better look.

My son was told to leave his family in Korea and returned to the US two weeks ago. He is not 2nd infantry, but said the entire transport plane was full of 2nd infantry.
Unfortunately I have had no contact with him since he returned to the US.
2ID is also in Washington state, but not airborne as you said.
Can confirm from my time with a Stryker bridge previously under 2ID at Lewis.

It's not necessarily about the stupid potato inauguration - there's something going on with China. There are warships all along the California coast right now.
more casual. one guy on the phone with his wife. attitudes varied. Older / senior troops were more laidback. Couple younger guys were quiet and stoic. Funny you should mention some nervous ticks. Couple of sergeants were hanging back by the coolers seems a little out of it compared to others.

Left sleeve has their current unit, the right sleeve has the patch for a unit they deployed to a combat zone with. Special Forces patch is an arrowhead, but not upside-down. It will also have an airborne tab above it. Just because you have that patch doesn't mean you are SF qualified. That would be an additional tab worn above the current unit patch (it would not be on the combat one). It is possible they were on active duty in the 82nd, went to theater and joined the NG when they got out.
yeah wish I spent more time looking at the patches but didn't think about it until I was leaving and took a quick look.
82nd airborne was what Flynn was in.
As a former deployed Army vet, it means nothing, for our purpose, if the 82nd patch is on their right shoulder.
