United States Flag Code §8(a) disagrees with you , fren:

The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

And by code here in Virginia falsely signaling distress is punishable with finest and jail time. We never used it for a flag but we did for phoney 911 calls. You don't think that doing this puts people at risk of being persecuted? I do.

Thoughtful reply, however I refuse to live my life from a place of fear. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

I am surrounded by commies that threatened my grandkids in our yard, threw eggs and bags of shit at my house, keyed my car and lit my hay bales on fire.

I respect what you are doing and hope you have security cameras and a pump shot gun just in case.

As for me, after 72 years in Virginia our house is up for sale and we are moving far away

It's not disrespect. This is actually a thing you do when the nation is under siege.

It's legitimate, it's not like putting your hat on backwards to mock something.
