Banks seem to be able to keep track of little slips of paper relatively reliably...

The answer is we need to stop treating election security like a joke.

If I'm an election observer, I should know every security law and procedure, and understand why they are in place. If I call foul, an audit team should descend, just like they would if a bank customer claimed a teller shorted her $11.

That incident should be documented, any affected ballots and documents noted so that later review can locate them if necessary.

This is how our elections are currently supposed to work, but nobody actually takes it seriously. We have testimony from all over the place that election observers not only weren't allowed close enough to conceivably perform their function, but that they weren't allowed to make a single challenge.

This isn't the first time they've intimidated election observers; they knew they could get away with it.

If someone takes $100 out of your bank account, the customer will notice and complain.

If someone adds 10k extra votes, no individual will directly notice the fraud. A normal person votes and just assumes it was counted correctly.

The election observers chosen by the political parties are supposed to do the checking.

I don't see a path to fixing it in Democrat-controlled cities and states. How are you supposed to vote out dishonest government when they count the votes?
