There is no more obvious admittance of guilt than Mitch threatening Trump related to Assange Pardon?

Unless I'm missing something, once Trump is out of office, they can't impeach him. So that SPECIFIC threat is a non-issue.
I realize that there are plenty of other things they can do to him, but they will probably do those things anyway. He is too popular and knows too much. He is the single biggest risk to their(deep state) there is.
What does Assange know that no one else knows?

It doesn't matter what he does or doesn't do, they will never stop trying to destroy President Trump or his family. He should go ahead and do whatever the heck he wants to.
You can impeach someone after they are out of office.
i personally think the trump camp floated this rumor either to fuck with people and watch them sweat or some other possibly unknown reason. maybe as a way to smear mcconnell or perhaps to pre-emptively smear the impeachment trial itself.
either that or it's essentially a pastiche of real conversations in the context of a premise that while technically true, never happened. in that scenario the culprit for cooking the story would be tucker himself and/or some anti-mcconnell forces (of which there are many) in the WH.
Where is this Mitch/Assange rumor coming from? Got a source?
