I used to feel that it was all compatible, but my "tolerant" liberal friends are gleefully posting about how Trump and his whole family must be imprisoned, tortured for information, and then he can get the Death Penalty.
Also they're posting screenshots of reporting coworkers to the FBI tipline, and also sharing memes about how Right-Wing "Nazis" all belong in reeducation camps.
Finally, these "tolerant" people who I've known for decades are posting about how conservatives don't deserve a place in society and should be cancelled fully -- by Banks, Mortgage Lenders, Law Firms, Universities, TV Stations, Restaurants, and Hospitals too!

I have Socialists in my extended circle too -- impossible to avoid here, but being a conservative myself, I've never formed close relationships with those people.
These are all seemingly normal employed individuals who "want to be on the right side of history" and "can't stand what Trump has done to US Foreign Relations" and "won't allow racism to proliferate because they were raised better"!
Some are atheists, some of them are Christians. Many are Jewish.
All of them are people I've built a life around and included at milestone life events. And now they're making "mayocide" jokes on social media about how "whites need to be put in reeducation camps". (Because POC can't be conservative, in their world.)
What does their religion have to do with them not being Socialists? Look at how much the Protestant churches are being overrun with socialist-pushing pastors now. Look at how man early Communist agitators and modern socialists thought leaders of today are Jewish. And atheists? Communism makea atheism mandatory.

Also, if they're talking about putting people into re-education camps or ethnic cleansing, how can you say they're not Socialists? That's Socialism 101. Where in Liberal Political philosophy does ethnic cleansing or concentration camps play any part?
You say you have Socialists in your extended contacts, so I assume that's through the Progressives you say are Liberals. You've only solidified the evidence against the people you're claiming are Liberal as actually being Progressives.
