What does their religion have to do with them not being Socialists? Look at how much the Protestant churches are being overrun with socialist-pushing pastors now. Look at how man early Communist agitators and modern socialists thought leaders of today are Jewish. And atheists? Communism makea atheism mandatory.
I really need to understand why you made that as part of your argument that they're not Socialists. Do you know people can identify as more than one thing depending on the context of the question?
Also, if they're talking about putting people into re-education camps or ethnic cleansing, how can you say they're not Socialists? That's Socialism 101. Where in Liberal Political philosophy does ethnic cleansing or concentration camps play any part?
You say you have Socialists in your extended contacts, so I assume that's through the Progressives you say are Liberals. You've only solidified the evidence against the people you're claiming are Liberal as actually being Progressives.
I understand everything you are saying -- but you've missed one point.
Progressives have overrun what it means to be Liberal. They control the narrative for what Liberalism is today.
I know the "classic definition of a Liberal" does not conform with the Progressive shit that's being shoehorned into people's lives today.
But that doesn't matter at all. Because even if words used to mean one thing, once society changes the meaning of a word -- it loses the original meaning.
Gay used to just mean happy, not so long ago.
As a result of this, people who have defined themselves as Liberal, and were raised to be Liberal, among communities that taught them that "being a Liberal" is a good thing -- those people are sucked into the Progressive whirlpool just because the very nature of Liberalism has been redefined.
If they want to continue identifying with the core Liberal Identity they've worn all their lives, then they'd better get in line and do the "Liberal" song and dance of Orange Man Bad & Punch Nazis!!!
And I've described to you what that sounds like, above. My friends and peers are sharing memes about putting Conservatives in camps, and calling for the "mayocide" of US whites.
This is my problem with conservatives. You let the ideologucal enemies of the US, Socialists, redefine and repurpose language to suit their needs all of the time. You constantly fight on their terms and give ground never to take any back.
The Progressives who call themselves Liberal without espousing a single liberal value while also spewing endless Socialist talking points are the same people that say War is Peace, Ignorance is Knowledge, and Hate is Love. Instead of just calling them out for the liars that they are, you are instead going to say they won and give them that ground?
I love my Conservative brothers and sisters, but your willingness to cede ground and habit of being outmanuevuered all of the time linguistically and philosophically is immensely frustrating.

I'm not preaching to the choir. There's a lot of Conservatives who are not very self reflective on their strengths and weaknesses. Not just Conservatives, a lot of people aren't. In very intentionally pointing them out now so people can reflect on it.
